Well Melissa Photography has some exciting news. We are moving!
Recently--like two days ago--my husband decided to take a job in Qatar. It is a tiny country right above Saudi Arabia on the Persian Gulf. We just got back from visiting and it was great. Friendly people, lovely weather and and amazingly exciting, growing city!
So, as you have probably guessed Melissa Photography will be closed as of the end of August.
Fear not if you have an outstanding album...I will still be able to design from Qatar. I will also have a local phone number and the same email. I will keep everyone updated! I am hoping to start up a portrait business in Qatar if you want to pop by! :)
And now for some pictures....
Doha, Qatar has many many outdoor markets, called Souks. They have everything from fruits and vegetables to camels and falcons! Yes you can buy a camel or a falcon!
The vegetable Souk...
The falcon Souk...
The spice Souk...
These are from a large Souk that was rebuilt to look exactly as it did in the 1950s. It consists of restaurants, rug makers, spice dealers, fabric shops.....it was HUGE. And everyone was very friendly and eager to barter!
Did you know that the world's best Cinnamon Rolls are in Qatar?
This is a lovely view of the Museum of Islamic Art. The architecture was beautiful and there is a view of downtown in the background...there is so much construction going on in Doha that is is amazing. Someone told us that there were over 100 highrises going up at the same time and that Doha and Dubai have 75% of the world's cranes.
Here are some boats.
Last but not least, here is where we will be living. I threw in the stop sign because it looks odd in Arabic. We will be living in a compound with other expats from all over the world.
This is the front of our house and our carport....it will be very strange to live in a warm climate!
Cheers!
